Show SHORT LINE IS TO BE SUED BYJCITY The city board of commissioners this morning agnin took up the quos-tiou quos-tiou of advertising for bids for the conatmctkin of curb and gutter district dis-trict No. 10S and concluded that they would proceed with the improvement. The engineer was instructed to advertise ad-vertise for bidp. At last night's meeting the board was at a loss to know whether lo undertake un-dertake the Improvement at this time, due to tho lateness of the season. The legal department was called on this morning to take tip the question of collecting J533.4f stated by the city auditor to be dee from the Oregon Short Line company for a right-of-way for a spur track on PIncock I ano. or the cxtttaslon of Thirty-third street. The account dates back a year or more. In his communication, Auditor Van Dyke stated that the city went to the expense of condemning certain property prop-erty to give the company a clear title to the right-of-way. the expense amounting to the sum above designated, designat-ed, but that the railroad people have refused to pav tho account, claiming that thoy have fulfilled their obllga-j tlons with the city in that aspect |
