Show state news BUILDING THE UTAH ML ROAD! Proo, Sept 17 William Ashlon, chief engineer for the Utah Railway company, the proposed coal road from the coal beds In Carbon and Emery counties to connect with the Salt Lake Route in Utah county, met with a committee from the Provo Commercial Commer-cial club in the clubrooms hero yesterday yes-terday to discuss terminal facilities in case the road comes to Provo. Mr. Ashton said that a survey had been made and found to be feasible to come into Provo, but that It would necessitate the building of six additional addi-tional miles of roadbed. He showed a blue-print map of the survey made from the mouth of Spanish Fork canyon, can-yon, by way of Sprlngvlllc, to Provo, If the road is run according to the survov It will go Just east of Sprlng-vllle'and Sprlng-vllle'and enter Provo immediately north of tho present freight depots of both roads now here, and will run through the center of the tier of blocks east to west from the Z. C. M. 1. warehouse Tho proposition was thoroughly gone over by Mr. Ashton and tho members of the committee. After tho morning sosslon adjournment adjourn-ment was taken until evening, when a good representation of business men and members of the Commercial club met and further discussed tho question ques-tion with Engineer Askton The following fol-lowing committe-e was appointed to confor with committees from Sprlngvlllc Sprlng-vlllc and Mapleton to arrange for tho furnishing of a right of way free of cost to tho company from Spanish Fork canyon to Third East and Sixth South streets, Provo: W. H Ray, Ferre Dockor, S. IT. Belmont, F. A. Huish and D. R. Beobo. Sharp is prosIdentvis owned by the United States Smelting Rcfin lng and Mining company. Twenty-eight miles of tho grading of the road bas beon let to tho Utah Construction Con-struction company, from Moreland, In Emery county, to a point about half way between Helper and Castle Gale. Tho contract calls for the completion of the grade and bridges within ninety nine-ty days. Ninety-pound steel rails are to be used. |
