Show Candidate lor Commlssloiier 2 Year, Term SOME OF THE PRINCIPLES FOR WHICH I STAND: I stand for the principle that a dollar in the City Treasury is worth just as much as a dollar in the pocket of an individual or in the hands of a company or private pri-vate corporation, and should buy just as much in the open market of either labor or material. I believe that qualification and efficiency should be the standard stand-ard by which appointments should be made and employes secured, se-cured, regardless of political affiliations af-filiations or religious belief, I stand for retrenchment and economy in .every .department consistent with progress and good government, to the end that the indebtedness of the city may be reduced and taxes made lower. I am not in sympathy with the occupation tax or merchant's license this is an emergency measure and should only be resorted re-sorted to in case of great financial finan-cial distress and, while it is permitted per-mitted under the law, I believe it to be unjust and should be repealed. re-pealed. I stand If or a "Square Deal" for every man, high or low, rich or poor, white or black, regardless regard-less of his calling or condition in life. J. C. NYE. -- no |
