Show THEY DEMAND A CONVENTION Progressive Republicans at Big Meeting Last Night Call on Republican Committee to Call Republican Convention and Primaries Meet- ing a Most Decided Success Many Names Signed to the Roll Mayor Pays HisJRespects to the Dark Lantern, Brigade. . " The-Progressive Republican meeting meet-ing at the court house was a, grand success last evening, the large hall In the court house was well filled and many ladies were present. One lady coming out of the court house said she "had attended political meetings fpr ten vcars and learned more at this meeting than in tho whole previous ten years." When the meeting was over a large crowd remained seated, waiting for the club roll to be passed. The speakers were W. E. Archibald , and R. S. Fanisworth. They explained ex-plained the Progressive doctrines. The Imperial quartette was present and rendered some good music just before the meeting closed. Mayor Glasmann was called for by the audience audi-ence and said he was not on the program, pro-gram, yet ho could always say something some-thing in behalf of those insurgent Re publicans who were battling for the common people. The mayor roforrcd to a bunch of leading citizens that had gone behind closed doors and selected se-lected candidates for the people to vote for. That he personally believed the people had Benso enough to select their own candidates without having tthe doors slammed In their face. He then made a motion that the Republican Re-publican central committee of Ogden be requested to call a mass convention conven-tion of the Republicans of Ogden, who shall select two or three names for each office, and that tho Republicans have a primary nomination of their own, as provided by law for primary nominations. The motion was carried unanimously. t While the hall was not as large as the opera house, It was well filled and tho progressive crowd Is progressing very fast. |
