Tho petitions bo far filed with tho city recorder "aro for the four and two-year terms for commissioner, except ex-cept that the Socialist candidates for mayor and auditor have filed their petition. There bas been no other application as yet for the position of "Mayor Commissioner." Recent petitions peti-tions filed aro those of J. S. Carver for tho four-year commissioner term and Davjd F. Steele for tho two-year term. There Is, plenty of time yot for conventions con-ventions nnd other gatherings for tho naming of candidates, the law giving until October 14 for the filing of petitions. peti-tions. The primary election will be held October 24 and the election will be held November 7. The socialist organization already has Its ticket In the field. There are a number of known candidates can-didates for the position of commissioner commis-sioner and also for tho office of auditor audi-tor but they are not hurrying much toward filing their petitions with tho city recorder. All who aspire to tho positions must file a petition containing contain-ing the names of 100 -voters of the city before they can bo brought before be-fore the people for nomination, whoth-or whoth-or or not they have been named for the nomination by a political organization organi-zation or an. other combination. " The endorsement of a candidate by a party organization does not entitle him to recognition at the primary election unless 100 people have requested re-quested that his name lie presented to the voters for their consideration.
