The purses hung up In this department of I tho fair this jear amount to over j $10,000, and so'ine of the best track material in the country is at tho show grounds, ready for action Close to 100 runners have arrived for tho eight-day race meeting, which commences tomorrow afternoon, continuing con-tinuing through Saturday afternoon, Sept. 30 Some of the best known Jockeys In tho country are on hand to ride the ponies Among the well known owners who aro here with their stables are W. C Scott, J B. Konstith, Dale Parke, Dr. J Q. Robblns, B. F. Hobart, Kent Price, William Neeser, Geo. Bassett, C P. Dyo, Ely Walker A. C Chr'isten- seu, N. A. Dickey and Dr. J. B, Berry. The officials of tho race meeting have been announced as follows: Managor, H. M Rowe, presiding Judge, J. D. (Murphy, paddock Judge. John Swain, racing secretary, Roy Shumway, starter. H. W Dunn The races will be conducted under rules of racing as adopted by the American Trotting association. Tomorrow afternoon's track program pro-gram Is a good one. Some of the best ponies at the fair have been entered. For the races, a fare of $1 10 for the round trip fr,om Salt Lake City to Ogden has been announced by tho railroads. |
