Ayres of Boston, shot and probably fatally wounded his son at a hotel early today and then committed suicide. sui-cide. The Ayres have been here about three months. Father and son occupied adjoining rooms, tl is supposed sup-posed that the elder man entered his son's room and, after firing a bullet Into the lattor's head, hurried back tohIs own apartment and committed suicide. Tho bullet entered his mouth and almost tore the top of his head off. Soon after coming to California, Samuel Ayres purchasod a ranch at Beaumont, a town up In the mountains moun-tains near Riverside. Apparently the family was woll-to-do. Passbooks showed comfortable deposits In several banks Samuel Ayres was about 50 years old, the son about 20. Joseph Ayres has been unconscious since the shooting. on |
