Show FRANCHISE FOR AN INTERURBAN Salt Lako, April 12 A franchise for use of certain streets of tho city was granted yesterday by the city commission com-mission to the Utah county interurban railroad on tho terms set for in tho ordinance prepared by tho representatives represent-atives of tho company. The only ' change was In the form of an amendment amend-ment which reserved to tho city the right to grant other companies track-ago track-ago arrangements over tho line of tho giantcos Judgo W H. King, representing a rhal company seeking a somewhat similar franchlso ovor the city streets, appoarod beforo the commission. He disclaimed anj intention of opposing the franchise grant to tho othor company, com-pany, but thought tho commission should lesene the right to arbitrate tho terras on which tho holders of the first franchise would concede othor oth-or companies tho use of their tracks The commission thought it advisable to tako the advlco of Its legal department depart-ment on the matter and took a recess for an hour to give Its attorneys time to look over tho proposed ordinanco and the suggested amendment. |
