Show oo FOUR BIG MEN OF WESTERN LINES Salt Lake, April 25. Charles H. Schlacks, first vlce-presldont of tbe Denver & Rio Graudo and Western Pacific roada; II. V. Clarke, second vice president and general manager of the Denver & Rio Grande; A. S. Hughes, general traffic managor of the Denver & Rio Grande, and F. A. Wadleigh, general passenger ngent of the samo road, were In Salt Lako City for a few hours yestorday. Another member of the party was T. J. Wycho, chief engineer of the Western Pacific. Paci-fic. While no formal announcements were made by any of tho officials during their stay hero, Mr. Schlacks was willing to say that thcro was no truth in the statement that the Utah lines of the Denver & Rio Grande might be operated from Denver, and expressed tho opinion that a successor success-or to the late J. C. Dailey, who at the time of his death was superintendent superin-tendent of tho Utah lines, would be selected and announced within a short time ' Mr. Schlacks and Mr. Wyche left for the west at 2; 45 o'clock In tho afternoon, returning to 'San FrancjB-co, FrancjB-co, the other officials leaving at 4:05 o'clock on No. 2 for Denver. During tholr brief stay in the city the members of the party were tho guests of S. V. Derrah, assistant general gen-eral freight agon of both the Rio Grande and Western Pacific roads. They paid visits to a number of tho promlnont railroad men of the city, and took pains to express pleasure at the substantial evidence of progress to be noted in Salt Lake. |
