Show KANSAS CITY Daring Thievss Enter a Jewelry Store in Broad Daylight Kansas City, July 20. Two men entered en-tered tho shop of the Franklin Jewelry Jew-elry company, near Ninth and' Main streets, in the heart of this city, at 9 o'clock this morning, held up B. J. Franklin at the point of a revolver, took a tray of diamonds and ran down an alley. When pursued by Franklin they fired at him, dangerously danger-ously wounding B. A. Soitz, a bystander. by-stander. One of the robbers was captured five minutes later in a department slore three blocks from the scene of the robbery. He gave the name of John Brown. When the robbers entered the store Mr. Franklin, the proprietor, was alone. "We are just looking," they said, when asked what they wanted. A few minutes later tley asked to be shown some diamond ear drops. Mr. Franklin removed a tray containing several hundred dollars worth of diamonds dia-monds from a show case and placed j It on the counter just as one of tho men drew a revolver and ordered him to throw up his hands. Thrusting the tray under his coat, one of the men rushed into the street followed by the other. Franklin was up and out of the store just as the men turned into an alley and ran. When Franklin shouted to them to stop the robbers turned and ono fired two shots By this time scores of people had joined the chase. One of the robbers rob-bers disappeared into a doorway. The other turned into tho rear entrance of the department store, where ho was captured Members of the jewelry firm said the diamonds, which have not been recovered, were valued at $4,500.
