Ht After searching the occupants of ft the berths, they climbed out of the diner, over tho baggage and express carB to the engine, reaching that part of the train when near Buffalo Thev J ordered Engineer Olson to stop tho 5RI train so they could get off and. when I he refused to comply with their wishes, two shots were fired at him, one glancing off his watch and tho other striking him on a rib, injuring him slightly. After being wounded and seeing that the men were desperate, Engineer Engi-neer Olson stopped tho train and tho three men who were ail masked with polkadot handkerchiefs, Jumped quickly quick-ly from the train and ran Into the darkness. - - Engineer Olson, who is one of tho olde3t engine pilots on the system, was brought into Fargo with the train and is resting at hiB homo there. After leaving the train the robbers went to on automobile which they had waiting nearby and drove off into the darkness. ,The train was run into Fargo, where tho Bheriff, every available deputy and throe deputy United States marshals mar-shals harried jack on a special train to -pursue the robbers. Posses also started out of Buffalo 15 minutes after the robbery was re-pored-, and every surrounding town in the northwest was telephoned or telegraphed tele-graphed to look out for tho robbers. The express and mail cars were no' molested by the men. Jt Is not known what the amount the cars contained, but usually the North Coast Limited carries considerable consider-able amount of money and it is thought that the men took longer in going through the day coaches than they had planned, or thev would have tried to blow up the express safe and rifle the registered mall pouches. One of Robbers Wounded. St Paul, July 20. The Northern Pacific Coast Limited train No. 2, which was held up last nigfat near BufTalo, N. D., arrived in St. Paul at 8 o'clock this morning. The passengers pas-sengers are of the belief that one of the robbers was hit by a bullet, fired by the Pullman conductor, and that this was the reason the robbers di 1 not go through the whole train The robbers proceeded to search the passengers pas-sengers in the observation car, and the last two sleejrs.
