Show EQUAL SUFFRAGE FREELY DISCUSSED SACRAMENTO, Cal., Jan. IS. Every state In Union, from Massachusetts Massa-chusetts to Washington, waB raked tonight to-night for examples of what woman's sulfragd will or will not do, In a public pub-lic hearing on the subject hold hero tonight in the senate chamber of the legislature. Delegations representing both opinions were present, while the anti-suffragists had in their ranks Miss Minnie Brunson of New York. Massachusetts, Washington and J Wyoming were freely drawn upon In the illustration, but the main contention conten-tion evidently lay about Colorado. Of this state the suffragists asserted that it had many good laws because of the influence of women, and the anti-suffragists flatly declared that the women had done nothing remarkable and that some of the boasted reforms were full of holes from a legal point of view. The hearing was on a constitutional amendment introduced by Senator Bell of Pasadena, an administration leader, provldiug equal suffrage for women. |
