Show PULLMAN RATES CAUSE N0INCREASE Chicago, Maich 11. Although reduced re-duced Pullman berth rates have been in effect since February 1, passenger traffic officials on lines entering Chicago Chi-cago declare that there has been no appreciable increase in the demand for upper berths, tho price for which was lessened to 80 per cenl!f lower berth rates. It was believed at first that the cut in tolls by the Pullman company would be eagerly taken advantage of by the traveling public- Reports received at the Pullman offices and observations made by officers In the passenger departments de-partments of various railroads, however, how-ever, are to the effect that lower berths, with comparatively few exceptions, excep-tions, still arc asked for. A number of passenger irafflc managers man-agers yesterday expressed the Qpinlon that the publicgeiierally has not been fully acquainted as yet with tho fact that upper berth rates are cheaper than for lowers, and that It will be several months before this informa-tlon informa-tlon has been fully disseminated. |
