Show GOV. DENEEN UNDER I CROSS EXAMINATION I WASHINGTON, July 14. For near-ly near-ly six hours today Gov Deneen of Illinois Illi-nois underwent cross examination bi counsel for Senator Lorlmer concern-lug concern-lug the testimony the governor gave ebterdav to the senate committee investigating in-vestigating the election of Senator Lorimer. It is expected that tomorrow tomor-row tho governor will be examined about events on the day Lorlmer was elected Nearly every phase ofIllinois ofIlli-nois politics was entered into by Attorney At-torney Elbrldge Nanecy in cross examination ex-amination of the witness. The testi-mony testi-mony constitutes a history of political politi-cal alignments in Illinois from the time Mr. Deneen was first elected states's attornoy for Cook county, 1111- nols. Mr. Nanecy sought to show that WM it was Deneen who organized the leg- -H lslature during his term as governor, VM and not Lorimer, but Mr. jH certain that he did not dictate the H chairman of the committees and that H Lorimer had attended a conferences H "somewhere" wherein it was agreed H to have the minority Republicans and rM Democrats organize the bouse which M voted for Lorimer. Mr. Nauec lH sought to show that if 15 Deneen men had voted for Hopkins on the , first PH dfly's balloting for senator. Hopkins IH would have been elected.
