A delightful lawn party was given Thursday evening by Miss Vera Royle In honor of Jeddle .McKay, who leaves on the 25th of the month for a mission mis-sion in England. The home was prettily decorated with roses, carnations and dahlias, festoons of pink and white crepe paper pa-per and the effective placing of Japanese Jap-anese lanterns enhancing the scene On tho lawn, which was also lighted with .lananese lanterns, chairs, ham mocks, couches and small tnbles were 9 effectively and conveniently placed. Songs, Instrumental numbers and i; popular games were enjoyed and at 10.00 a two-couro lunch was nicely S served. ' Those who were present were: Miss I Pearl Farr. Miss Maude Paine. Atkinson on Twentieth strceMIast ovening was the sccno of one of tho moBt pleasant surprise sur-prise parties of the week. j Mr. Atkinson, or Brother Atkinson, as he is more familiarly Known among his associates In the ranks of organized organiz-ed labor, has been a member of Brewery Brew-ery Workers' local No 325 for the past five years, serving as treasurer i 1 and executive board member contln-I contln-I uously during thaf: time. Ho will leave shortly to take up a residence In Treabureton, Idaho, and tho party was arranged by the local as a fare-woll fare-woll to himself and wife. The festivities took place in tho open air, plenty of chairs and tables i being provided fpr the comfort of the I guests. Hictiardbon, the wcllmown- labor leader and former president of local No 325, In a brief speech, reviewed re-viewed the work of Brother Atkinson as a trade unionist and on behalf of his fellow members thanked him and wiBhed him success m his new field of labor. Presldeut George Dinsdale and Brother Bro-ther Alfred Peterson in a semi-humorous mannor, also spoke their appreciation appreci-ation of the guest of honor as a fellow fel-low worker. Mr. John Gealta, chief engineer of the Becker Brewing company, com-pany, spoke of his good will for tho local und for M?. Atkinson as a man and a workman. Mr. Atkinson respondedVthanklng all present for their good wishes and bidding thepi welcome to his new home if they should ever have occasion occa-sion to visit that vicinity The rendition of the "Song of Labor" La-bor" by Brother E. H Wright was greatly appreciated. A most pleasing feature of the occasion was the accordion ac-cordion playing of Mr Emll Bartell, who played the popular airs of several sev-eral nations during the evening. Mr. Bartell proved himself a very able entertainer. In addition to tho Brewery Workers and their families, numbering about 75 persons, Henry and John Atkinson of Treasure'ton, Idaho, and Alvln Atkinson At-kinson of Cove Utah, were present. FOR M. I. A dluner at the Commercial cJub,. at which covers for the parents, brothers and sisters and the bridal party only, will be laid, will follow the nuptial ceremony.
