Show Home Economics Instructor "Arrives New Professor Takes Over Duties at USAC Virginia Phillips, chairman of home economics curriculum revision re-vision in California schools for f- several years, has been appointed assistant professor of home economics eco-nomics education at Utah State Agricultural college and assumed duties Tuesday, college officials announce. She succeeds Helen Ajax, for-member for-member of the home economics staff. Pr'or to accepting the position at USAC, Miss Phillips was chairman chair-man of home economics curriculum curricu-lum revision program and instructor in-structor in Kern county, Union high school, and Bakersfield Jun-x Jun-x ior college district in Bakersfieid, California. She attended University of Southern California tnd graduated with a BS degree in Home Eco nornics from the University of California. Completing requirements require-ments for a MS degree at the teachers college, Columbia University, Uni-versity, New York City in general gen-eral curriculum and instruction, she continued with two years of post graduate work toward a doctor's degree in aducation. Miss Phillips has taught in w both rural and urban elementary and secondary schools and junior jun-ior colleges in California in home economics as well as acting as director of curriculum revision. Widely recognized as an expert on curriculum revisicn, she has pcted as president of the California Califor-nia Home Economics association and assistant to the regional director di-rector of the Home Economic division di-vision of the National Education association. Prior to coming to Utah she acted as secretary to the elementary and secondary schools department of the American Ameri-can Home Economics association. During her work in the California Cali-fornia schools and at various universities uni-versities Miss Phillips has been an active leader in Home Economics Eco-nomics Etudent club work. |
