Show PLAN CACHE FARM WORK 1944 Agricultural Programs Outlined A comprehensive agricultural program for Cache county was outlined and discussed in detail I Monday at a meeting of about 100 members of the county plan-aing plan-aing committees in Logan. "Bottlenecks" in agricultural production were discussed at the morning session. Among the highlights high-lights were talks by E. E. Hendricks, Hend-ricks, R L. Wrigley, assistant director di-rector for agriculture for the extension service, A. W. Chambers, Cham-bers, chariman of the county farm labor committee, and John H. Schenk, chairman of the dairy planning committee and president of the Cache Valley Dairy association. associa-tion. He praised the activities of the Cache county coun-ty planning committee and tne results of their work in improving improv-ing home living and fool production. He said "This dairy labor problem cannot can-not be met with hired help." Director W. W. Owens discussed the farm machinery problem for 1944. A. F. Bracken, extension agronromist, discussed fertilizers and labor saving methods, and G. Alvin Carpenter talked on the labor problems on a state level. Russell S. Hanson was introduced intro-duced tas the agricultural key banker for Cache county and also as president of the Logan Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce. Mr. Hanson expressed ex-pressed the interest that the bankers bank-ers and Chamber of Commerce have in the agricultural program and in the work of the planning committees. i The afternoon was devoted to committee meetings, with each committee writing the 1944 program pro-gram for its respective field with the following chairmen in charge: Saul E. Hyer, irrigation; John H. Schenk, dairy; A. W. Chambers, crops; Mrs. D. R. Clarke, wartime war-time living; Mrs. H. M. Zollinger, home improvement; William R. Zollinger, fruits and vegetables; William Worley, poultry; Dr. O. Wennergren, livestock and range; Bennie J. Ravsten, dry farm; Jess Theurer, 4-H clubs. I |
