Show Richmond Couple Await Golden Wedding Anniversary; Fete Planned Mr. and Mrs. Joseph R Thomson, lifelong residents of Richmond, where both have lacn act-ive in civic and church affairs will observe their golden wedding anniversary Tuesday. Friends and relatives are invited to call between be-tween 3 and 8 p. m. Mr. Thomson was born July 13, 1870 in Richmond, a son of George and Alice Tomlinson Thomson, while .Mrs. Thomson, was the daughter of Justin and Eliza All. red Shepard. She was born December De-cember 6, 1871 in Richmond, Both were educated in Rich, mond public schools and Mr. Thomson was one of the first graduates of Utah State Agricultural Agricul-tural college, getting his degree in mechanical engineering in 1896. He taught school for 13 years and became a plumber, a profession he followed for more than thirty years. Mr. Thomson has served as city recorder and water superintendent and for 34 years has kept an accurate ac-curate record of preciDitation in Richmond. Mr. Thomson was a Sunday school teacher 29 jears, a ward teacher 11 years, supervisor 15 years, secretary of the 39th quorum of Seventies for seven years and president 19 years, and was class leader for the high priests quorum six years. He directed di-rected ward welfare projects four 1 years. After completing her education, Mrs. Thomson worked in the Richmond Rich-mond Coop store before her marriage. mar-riage. Active also in activities, she has been a Sunday school teach, er; Y.L.M.I.A. secretary, religion class leader, counselor and president; presi-dent; teacher and secretary of the Relief society and was president two years of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers chapter in Richmond. Rich-mond. Mr. and Mrs. Thomson are parents of eight sons and daugh. ters, six of whom still are living. They are: Verne J. Thompson, of Richmond; J. La Ville, Irwin 'S. and Lynn A. Thomson, of Logan; Mrs. Gretta T. Squires, of Logan, and Reese S. Thomson, of Richmond, Rich-mond, California. They also rais. ed two granddaughters, Faye and Marvalee Duniey, since their parents par-ents died in 1927. They have 23 grandchildren, and one greatgrandchild. |
