Show Utah Livestock Men Plan Special Meeting One of the important meetings to be held during April will be the annual Utah State Cattle and Horse Growers' Association conference con-ference on Saturday, April 4, at the Newhouse Hotel in Salt Lake City, according to Director William Wil-liam Peterson of the Extension S'vice. , At two general sessions to be held during the day, state problems prob-lems will be discussed with L. C. Montgomery, president of the Utah Cattle and Horse Growers' Association, in the chair. Representatives Repre-sentatives of the Forest Service, Grazing Service, State and Federal Fed-eral Departments of Agriculture, Fish and Game Service, Selective Service officers, Priority Boards and other agencies that are closely close-ly connected with the Association will give short declaration of acceptance ac-ceptance policies in wartime conditions con-ditions as they affect livestock- men of the state. Preceding each of these talks, however, a member mem-ber of the Cattle and Horse Growers' Association will outline Association policy. "In the production goals set up by Secretary Wickard, Utah livestock live-stock growers have been requested request-ed to increase their slaughter by eight percent in 1942 over 1941," Director Peterson said. "This goal should be accomplished accomp-lished by culling from the flocks and herds all animals below the desired grade. This is the first opportunity presented to the livestock industry to carry on a vigorous culling program and receive re-ceive value for animals eliminated, elimin-ated, "Livestock growers everywhere seem willing to meet the desired goals; however, they feel that a definite system should be followed. follow-ed. The state meeting caled by Mr. Montgomery for April 4, affords an excellent opportunity for discussion on methods proposed pro-posed and procedures adopted," he concluded. |
