Show Living Costs Show Rise of 10.6 Per Cent r Living costs for wage earners and lower-salaries workers in the United States last February were 10.6 per cent higher than in the same month a year ago, the national na-tional industrial conference board announced this week. The board said living costs last February, however, were generally about 4.5 per cent below the boom year levels of 1923 and 1929, but were the highest since 1930. In the year between February, 1942, and February 1941, the board said, food prices showed the greatest great-est increase. 21.6 per cent, with clothing in second place. 15.6 per cent, while other percentage rises in the 12 months were sundries. 4.8 fuel and light, 4.6 and housing, hous-ing, 3.1. |
