Show New Eye, Teeth Rulings Made By U. S. Army New .teeth and eye requirements for induction into the army mean that more Utahns will become eligible eli-gible for service, according to information in-formation announced Monday by Lieutenant Colonel H. Arnold Rich, state director of selective service. Of the registrants examined to I date, the officer said, about 20 per cent could not qualify be cause of lack of sufficient teeth and 14 per cent were deferred because be-cause of defective eyes. Lieutenant Colonel Rich said the new ruling will qualify any s:-lect"e who has "the mere ability abil-ity to eat. and di;rst army chow", and is free of serious dental in-foci in-foci ion. Gt-r.rral military service in con-combatant con-combatant branches awaits registrants regis-trants whose visual acuity is below be-low 20-100 but not below 20-200 in each eye wtihout glasses if correctible to 20-40 in each eye. |
