Show Soldiers With Veteran Unit Two Cache soldiers, Sergean Venis K. Clark of Smithfielc and Sergeant Ronald Jay Denning completed two years of oversea; luty with a Flying Fortress uni, on August 6, thus becoming rea veterans of the war in the Eu ropean and Mediterranean theat ers. Their Fortress group was act! vated at Geiger Field, Wash., shortly after Pearl Harbor, rush ad through training and went jverseas to England on August 6 1942. There they participated in the first all-American air attacks against Germany and German neld territory. With the African invasion, the group moved south to play a cey part in that campaign. Despite Des-pite the most trying of living conditions and almost constant enemy attacks, the men of tht unit did outstanding work. Moving to an Italian base ear ly in December, 1943 the uni. took part in the first coordinate! raids against central German., from Italy and England.
