Pond, son of Harold Pond, of Richmond, has been awarded the Combat Infantryman's Infant-ryman's badge for exemplary conduct con-duct in action against the Japs on Cebu. Worn above the left breast pocket, this badge is aj silver rifle within a silver border j with an elliptical wreath in the j background. The Richmond soldier j has been overseas three months i and is entitled to wear the Phil-1 ippine Liberation Ribbond with j one star and the Asiatic-Pacific campaign ribbon with one battle star. Pond is a member of the battle.tested 182nd Infantry, a regiment organized in colonial times and cited as being the j oldest American Regiment in ex-j istance. The unit's battle honors j include such names as Bunker Hill, Meuse Argonne and Guad-1 alcanal. |
