Show not. Why? Oh, because Springville or Lehl may take a notion to it, for the people of the latter town es-pecifcliy es-pecifcliy are enterprising and progreg ive and if they believe the starch factory fac-tory will be a benefit to their city they vill seenre it, in the same manner they did the sugar works and leaching plant. SprinRville secured the smelting works and Provo, if she had made half tin effort, ef-fort, could have secured each an1 every one of the above named industries. Frovo has a splendid location for such a factory but the main fault is that the people of that city, majoritlvely speaking, speak-ing, are not of the right kind to build up a city, they are not sufficiently suffi-ciently enterprising or progressive, therefore Provo's chances of securing ' the factory are rather, slim, bnt with D P. Felt, of Provo, and Secretary Sears of the chamber of commerce at the helm, she may possibly be successful, for once. A STARCH FACTORY. j Provo is making a strike for the establishment estab-lishment of a starch factory. Some of the citizens have agreed to furnish the land necessary for the plant, and others have promised labor and potatoes and corn have been guaranteed for two years. Many merchants in the territory have promised to sign a contract to use home made starch, if as good, at a reasonable price for two years and thns give It a chance to get a start, and last, bnt not, least, some Salt Lake cr.pitallsts have taken the matter in hand with the object ob-ject ot giving necessary life from a financial standpoint. D. P. Felt, of Provo is working tl e matter up and says there is little doubt ' of failure, as the greatest interest is manifested by all approached. Sec e-' e-' tary Sears, of the chamber of commerce, is very enthusiastic and has promised all assistance in his power, as also has ' Governor Thomas. It is certainly a much needed innovation and wo hope to - see it started. Iferatd. f 'It is certain that there will be a starch factory operated In the territory, bit will Proyo get it? We almost fear |
