Show PA REN T-TE ACHE RS ORGANIZATION ORGANI-ZATION EFFECTED In spite of the fact that Mr. Woodbury, former president of the association, was called out of town, the initial meeting of the parents and teachers proved very successful. 'Mr. Baird acted as temporary chairman chair-man and conducted the meeting. Principal Joseph spoke. He emphasized, em-phasized, particularly, getting the cooperation co-operation of the parent. He especially especial-ly noted the problem of the backward back-ward child. The viewpoint of the parents was admirably given by Bishop Bird. He also dwelt upon the values of home support to the school. Miss Dussenbury gave a vocal solo so-lo Mr. Baird gave a stirring talk on the necessity of selling the High School to the Community. He also stated that with the right kind of co-operation, co-operation, the Milford high school should become the most vital voice In the community. Miss Erickson then read, "Quit Your Foolin." The rest of the meeting was devoted de-voted to reorganization. Mr. Sloan gave some encouraging status of the school and encouraged the effecting of an organization. A great deal of interest and competition com-petition was revealed in the selecting of the new president. Mrs. J. R M,urdoclc was selected first, but owing ow-ing to home duties, she declined. D. N. Hickman was finally selected. A number of people expressed themselves them-selves as to the benefits of such an organization. Mr. Hickman was asked to select his workers, and arrange for a second sec-ond meeting to perfect the organization, organi-zation, at his earliest convenience We feel that this is a splendid beginning be-ginning of a splendid movement. Mr. Hickman is very capable and enthusiastic enthus-iastic and with the co-operation of the patrons, parents and teachers of this community, great things can be accomplished. For we feel that Mil-ford's Mil-ford's greatest asset is her boys and .girls and anything that can promote their general good, is worth the combined com-bined efforts of any community. |
