Show BREAKS REACHED IN RECORD TIME In what is undoubtedly the quickest quick-est trip ever made from this or adjoining ad-joining cities, Mr. S. A. Halterman, manager of the Parowan-Cedar i Breaks passenger line took W. H. ! Cundey, assistant general passenger j agent, and R. H. Beam, official photographer pho-tographer for the Denver and Rio Grande railroad, on Saturday afternoon after-noon for a view of the Cedar Breaks. Without Mr. Halterman's knowing it. one of the passengers kept the time, making careful note of two or three short stops for the purpose of seeing points of interest along the way and when they reached the Breaks, notified no-tified him that despite the mud, which was bad on the Mammoth ' they were only an hour and forty- j eight minutes from Parowan, fourteen four-teen of which had been taken for the stops mentioned. Fortunately for the party which reached there about half an hour before be-fore sunset, the sky was clear and beautiful after the storm and an exceptionally ex-ceptionally good sunset view of the Breaks was had. Several photographs photo-graphs were taken that evening before be-fore they came down the canyon, and the next morning, they and Mr. Ramsey Ram-sey who had been there for a week past photographing, returned with Mr. Halterman and spent about three hours photographing the Breaks and other beautiful scenic attractions. Mr. Cundey stated that their trip to this section was strictly a business trip; that they were looking for places plac-es that would appeal to tourists with the idea of selling them railroad transportation tran-sportation from the East to those points. After seeing the Breaks and learning learn-ing how easily accessible they are from this place, Mr. Cundey stated that arrangements would be made to send tourists by rail to Lund or Milford, thence to this place and the Breaks by stage. That we shall receive a lot of advertising ad-vertising from these people is without with-out question and we may expect results re-sults in the not far distant future. Parowan Times. |
