Show THE CIVIC CLUB HOLDS PARTY IN CIVICCENTER The first social event of the Civic club in their new Civic Center, took place on Thursday, September 1. The card game was managed by Mrs. H. M. Gourley, Mrs. Jas. Glenn, Mrs. H. H. Pitchforth and Mrs. Fern-ley. Fern-ley. They certainly showed the art of entertaining and caused everyone to feel like they were the special guest of the occasion. The arrangement committee was composed of Mesdames Nebeker, Atkin, At-kin, Marksheffel, Sloan, Calloway Fernley and Mrs. Sherwood, and no arrangement was left undone to make this the perfect event of the season. After the card, game, very delicious delici-ous refreshments were served in a very excellent style. M,rs. Rose Hedges Hed-ges was chairman, and was assisted by Mesdames Eph Smith, Roy White, Eb Tanner, Rhetta Tanner, Christy Lee Wm. Cochrane and Mrst Armstrong. Arm-strong. -After the refreshments were served, serv-ed, a very high class musical program pro-gram was rendered. Those taking part were: O. F. Hubbell Geo. Atkin Jr. Miss Winnit Fernley Mrs. Wm. Dobson Mrs. Vivian Duffin A Cakewalk was next indulged In with Editor Carlton and Bishop Bird as conductors. It caused no end of merriment. Mr. and Mrs. Frlzzell won the cake. Dancing was next in order and the dancers danced like, "let joy be un-confined." un-confined." The advertising committee consisted consist-ed of Mrsv. Frizzell, Mrs. Bird, Korns, Mrs. Reisner, Mr. Nela Schow, Mrs. Clark Kesler and Mrs. Atkin. The members of the Civic center surely are grateful for this beautiful beauti-ful response" to their entertainment, as over ninety people were present. Mrs. Nebeker gave a very interesting interest-ing talk on the details and work of the club and extend a kind invitation invita-tion to every man. woman and young men and women ta join and help boost for a bigger and better Milford. The gentlemen may be honorary members. The winners of the prizes In the card game were Mrs. Russell, first prize, cut glass vaoe; Mr. Lacy Yents first prize, a pa'r of silk socks; second sec-ond prizes were won by Mrs. Harry Ward, hand painted sandwich tray; and Mr. Carl Carlton, a box of sugar su-gar wafers; and the booby prize went to Postmaster, Mrs. Jones. , |
