Show FOREIGN WAR POST ORGANIZED HERE Organization of a new post of Veterans Vet-erans of Foreign Wars of the United States at Milford, Utah, is nearing completion and arrangements are being be-ing made for the formal installation of the post by national officers of the organization in Utah and afficers and members of Lieutenant Clarence E. Allen post No. 409 at Salt Lake, it was announced Saturday by L. P. Bro-berg, Bro-berg, past national deputy chief of staff for the states of Utah. Charter No. 1546 has been assigned to the new post by national headquarters head-quarters at Kansas City, Kan., Mr. Broberg said, and a name for the branch will be selected by members at Milford within the next few days. Including the new post, there are now three branches of the Veterans of Foregin Wars in Utah. The others are Lieutenant C. E. Allen post 409, whic was organized in Salt Lake during dur-ing April, 1920; Corporal Fred J. Grant post, 1481, organized in Og-den Og-den in November 1926. In keeping with the expansion pro- grant of the order, preliminary arrangements ar-rangements are now under' way for the organization of other new posts in this state. Among the cities included in-cluded in the program, and where the new branches are expected to be opened, are Brigham City, Logan, Provo, Heber City, Nephi and Park City. Further announcements made Saturday indicated that a department of Utah, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, will be established establish-ed soon. Membership in the Veterans of Foreign For-eign Wars includes and is open to all ex-service men, who have been honorably discharged from the United States army, navy, or marine corps, as well as those still in the service, providing they have seen service in time of war on foreign soil or in hostile hos-tile waters. While most of the present pres-ent membership, according to Mr. Broberg, is composed of Spanish-American and world war veterans, there are still a few veterans of the Mexican Mexi-can war in 1848 listed on the rolls of the organization. Civil war veterans vet-erans automatically become honorary members upon their application at any of the posts. Tribune. J. V. Reynolds who has been largely larg-ely instrumental in organizing this post, informs the News that arrangements arrange-ments are now being made to have an officer and staff come here from Salt Lake and install the post and its officers. |
