Show "KING HAL" The comic opera, ' "King Hal," which was put on at the Milford high school last Monday evening by the Beaver High School Opera company, com-pany, under the direction of Prof. Johnson, was a very creditable performance per-formance and was received with enthusiasm en-thusiasm by a very large audience. The principal parts were well taken and the choruses were especially espec-ially pleasing. The school and especially espec-ially the director, Mr. Johnson are to be congratulated upon the success suc-cess of their efforts. Following is the story of the opera op-era with a list o the principals. Leonard, a forester, is in love with Phyllis, the daughter of liar-dolph, liar-dolph, host of the "Star and Garter' inn at Windsor. A guest at the inn i; Dorothy, a coquettish widow, supposed sup-posed to be wealthy. Robert, the constable con-stable of Windsor, woos Dorothy for her money, but suspicious of Bar dolph, makes the latter's wife Elizabeth Eliza-beth jealous of her, the better to prosecute his own suit. "King Hal" is expected at Windsor, and the town is in gala attire to welcome its beloved be-loved monarch. Leonard's attentions to Phyllis are rejected by her parents, par-ents, and he wanders off in a sudden mood. The king arrives at Windsor, disguised as a huntsman. He disml.s ses his attendants, meets Phyllis aud presses his attentions upon her She calls for assistance, Leonarc' rushes upou the scene, . strikes the king, who then reveals his rank and orders Leonard Into custody, condemning con-demning him to death. Leonard escapes and takes refuge with the outlaws in Windsor forest They receive him kindly and enlist him as one of their band. Robert the constable of Windsor, to win tin king's favor, has tracked Leonard to the outlaws' ramp. He is discover ed, and himself captured. Leonarc' ' recognizes him. but refuses to be ' tray him. Phyllis, who has heard tlx ; Yeomen of the Guard discuss their 1 plans for Leonard's capture. ap pears, to warn her lover. He refuses ; to abandon his comrades, the Yeo men of the Guard rush on and .- fight ensues in which the outlaw are surrendered and taken. Robert receives all the credit of the affray. His valor is the subject of a song by Banlo'.ph. but iJlizabetl who has become r.wure of his mis chief-making, exposes his poltroon ery. Leonard and the outlaws an led to execution. Phyllis prostrates herself at King Hal's feet, and craves crav-es her lover's life. The king at firs! refuses, and then by a sudden im pulse, relents, and forgives Leonard Ralph, the outlaw chief, and bis com rades. He also insists that Robert the mendacious and mischief-making constable shall marry Dorothy which he is loath to do as be findr she 1h without fortune.
