Show REAVER COUNTY MINING Beaver county is one of the oldest old-est counties in Utah from a mining standpoint. It is said that when the state was first settled, the Mormons opened up a lead mine near the present pres-ent site of Milford, which produced a rich lead ore that they east bullets for their old muzzleloading guns used in fighting off the Indians who disputed with them the possession posses-sion of the land. From that time to the present, Beaver county has been the scene of mining activities, having a recorded production to the end of 191S, in gofld. silver, lead oopper and zinc of over $51 000 000. It is . we believe, a fact that Beaver Bea-ver county, like many other districts has suffered from the activities of wild catters in the past, but the people peo-ple of the county have taken the matter mat-ter up, and have formed an organization organ-ization consisting of the lending business bus-iness mining and professional men of Milford and the surrounding country. coun-try. This local organization, affiliated affiliat-ed with a central body in Salt Lake City, has decreed that wildcatting must cease that all mining news, as well as all mining promotion shall be absolutely reliable and based upon conditions as they exist. With this organization actively prosecuting the work of locating and developing prospects and ,at the tlm resolutely stamping out nil illegitimate illegiti-mate propositions. Beaver County will- surely enter upon a new era of prosperity which will far surpass its previous record. The Prospector |
