Show THE BEAVER "RED CROSS The Red Cross o,f Beaver is doing wonderfully efficient work. A representative rep-resentative of the News visited the Beaver headquarters last Tuesday. It is one of the busiest places in the county. The large room was full of lady workers all knitting knitting, knit-ting, ever knitting. The Beaver Red Cross has sixteen units or separate groups, each working hard and enthusiastically. en-thusiastically. What do fou think of this, dear reader: Beaver will have finished and shipped for distribution to the soldiers 120 complete sets, ! each of which contains a 25-inch sweater, a 68-inch muffler, a pair of 12-inch wristbands.and a pair of 14-inch 14-inch socks. The regulations call for only 12-inch legs for the socks, but the Beaver ladies declared they must be longer and made all of their sets uniform and better than the regulations. Mayor Frazer is president of the Beaver Red Cross, but perhaps to the vice-president of the organization, organiza-tion, Mrs. Isabell Denny, more than to any one individual should go much of the great credit due for the efficiency effi-ciency of the Beaver Red Cross. To Mrs. W.-.F. Knox is due much credit for the efficient organization and for the standardization of the work.. Many of the ladies give every afternoon after-noon and several evenings every week to t k is most commendable work. There is apparent enthusiasm and co-operation. The thing aimed at is getting the needed garments ready for the men at the front who need them and who will need them more and more as the war and winter win-ter progresses. At Manderfield every man. woman and child over fourteen years of age is a member of the Red Cross. ' Mrs. Knox credits Minersville with doing most excellent service. The work turned in from that unit is espociallly well done. ' : |
