The Camp Fire Girls spent the day at the Utafornia Ranch today, taking their lunches and making lemonade and ire cream at the ranch. They enjoyed the day hiking and swimming and ho-.-sebaek riding. Atkin will entertain this evening at the Hotel Atkin in honor of her friends Miss Catherine Smith-son Smith-son and Mrs. Minnie Talmer of Portland, Port-land, Oregon. Powell Ipson's name now appears as secretary on the correspondence of the county board of education. Mr. Ipson tried to go to the war but his eyes failed to pass the examining board. He was a very efficient teller in the Beaver State Bank before his enlistment. Those who have been waiting expecting ex-pecting to lay in a supply of wet goods at greatly reduced prices before be-fore the first of August, it is said, will have to change their plans. The price of booze in Milford was raised this week, we are informed, and there is consequent distress in the minds of those who were awaiting the closing out bargain sale. The Interstate Oil Company is offering of-fering stock at 10 cents per share and B. F. Benson of Salt Lake City is stopping at the Hotel Atkin for a few weeks to take subscriptions for the stock. The company is drilling in what is claimed to be well proven territory, putting down -a well which now has a strong showing of gas at 1100 feet. Fred Reber has opened a produce store on Main street near the News office. Mr. Reber brings the products prod-ucts peaches, apricots, berries and-fresh and-fresh vegetables of the Dixie country coun-try direct from the ranch to the consumer. His relatives and friends near St. George raise the fruit and Mr. Reber is finding a ready market here. The new enterprise is known as the Dixie Produce Company. B. F. Benson of Salt Lake City is at Hotel Atkin offering stock in the Interstate Oil Company at 10 cents per share. The company is now drilling a well in proven territory and is down about 1100 feet with a good showing of gas in the hole. It is claimed that the price of the stock will advance rapidly when the well is completed. The demand for fuel oil and gasoline is making oil development de-velopment exceedingly profitable.
