Show 'N0THER BEAVER CO. MINE IN SHIPPING LIST With a smelter check of $1004.08 to show as incontestable evidence of the values in his ores, James Kirk, manager of the Gold Crown Mining company of Beaver county, was in Salt Lake, having just received the settlement on a small car of thirty-seven thirty-seven tons of ore. He left yesterday afternoon for Star district, near Mil-ford, Mil-ford, where he will increase the force . to six men. He said he expects to have another carload of equally good ore for market in the next ten days. Mr. Kirk is of Pleasant Grove, but he is an old experienced mining man, having been in Bingham in early days, and in other camps later. He and associates have rounded out the , property with eight claims, one of which has been patented. The ground is two miles east of the Moscow mine and is adjoined by the Capital Mining Min-ing company's property, which is also active. The general formation at the Gold Crown shows limestone dolomite, porphyry intrusives and quartzite. The principal Assure has a northeast-southwest northeast-southwest strike and stands almost vertical. In places it dips slightly to the northwest. The main workings on the Gold Crown is a 350-foot incline. in-cline. This has followed an ore shoot down in the main fissure. The last ninety feet opened the ore one to five feet in width. Two carloads have been shipped frrn this sinking. The following control shows the desirable de-sirable nature of the ore. Gold, $1.20; silver.. 24 ounces; copper, 1.3 per cent; lead, 11.8 per cent; iron. 35.8 per cent; insoluble, 12; zinc, .4; and sulphur, 1.8. The smelter charge was but $1.99 a ton. The carload of 74,332 pounds dry weight brought $29.69 a ton. Mr. Kirk says the ore is going down strong and he expects now that the production days have arrived that he can make a real mine of the Gold Crown. The company has no debts and 250,000 shares of the 1.000.000 still in the treasury. The oftlcials are A. L. Cullimoro, president; presi-dent; C. G. Johnson, vice-president; S. S. Swanson. secretary-treasurer, who, excepting the secretary, are directors, di-rectors, together with William E. Yardley, Burt Thorn, James Kirk. Mr. Kirk said- yesterday that his neighbor, the Capital, has a much better surface showing than ho had to begin work on. It has a shaft sunk ninety feet on an ore shoot In the same fissure, but about 1200 feet to the northeast of the Gold Crown workings. This shaft shows one wall standing perpendicular, while the leathed iron gangue matter, containing con-taining good silver-lead values, is fifteen feet across. The shaft will be carried to the 200 level under contract. con-tract. Then some prospecting will be done in both directions along the strike of the vein. Herald-Repub. |
