Show OVER THE TOP WITH THE 5th Over the top. Yes Milford not only went over the top in the Victory Loan campaign, but through the enemies lines for a gain of 90 yards, and a touchdown. In other words with the bases full, Arrington knocked the ball over the left field fence and won the game and a penant. Baxter was captain cap-tain of the team, Jorgensen and Dobson Dob-son composed the batter and played an errorless game. The ease with which it was done surprised everyone and is ample proof of the excellent financial condition of Milford and her progressive people. Milford allotment was less than $14,000 and her subscription amount ed in $53,000. When the campaign started the leaders were very tinid and not over confident of the outcome, but as the campaign progressed, people came forward and voluntarily subscribed for their full quota, and later asked tOf double it. Thousands of dollars worth were bought with money taken tak-en from the ' proverbial old sock.. Many were taken by people purely as an investmeint. while at no time did the solicitors urge anyone to buy, and thus was the battle won with ease and pleasure. This, the V campaign cam-paign gives Milford great cause for rejoicing. |
