Show Tuesday Planned As Graveling Day Witlh the designation 'of nexA Tuesday, May 2, as "Gravel day," to be sponsored by members of the Milford Volunteer Fire department, depart-ment, there is being re-established a custom which has been the means of giving Milford probably the 'best system of all-weather side streets that exists in the state. Unfortunately, the gravel day custom has been permitted to lapse during the last six or seven years, and some of the streets are . in serious need of re-graveling. That the firemen have been first to recognize this need and act on it with their usual display of energy en-ergy and foresightedness is further fur-ther evidence that the members of the M.V.F.D. are a group of live-wire live-wire workers who are truly alert to the needs of the community and anxious to show their apprecia-. tion of the support given the department de-partment in the past. All business establishments are closing Tuesday from 12 o'clock noon until, 5 p.m., with the exception excep-tion of the local restaurants, which will close at 1:30 instead of noon. do-lhisdSiftemon'a.tingpj'laceseingan This is being done in order that the response of trucks, teams and men will be as near unanimous as possible and the idea has met with wide approval. Committees have been appointed' to outline the work to the best ad- j vantage and to plan for other i features, including a big dance atj night, to which workers will be given free admission. T,T |
