Show Beaver Planning For Music Festival Eighteen hundred or more senior and junior high school musicians are preparing to assemble in Beaver Bea-ver on May 6 to participate in the annual Southern Utah music festival. festi-val. According to reports of the committee in charge of this regional reg-ional music festival this number is the total of participants as reported report-ed by the various schools in this region, which comprises Millard, Beaver, Iron, Washington ana Kane counties. There will be lb high school bands and 30 mixed choruses and boys' and girls' glee groups. Milo Adams,' music instructor of the Beaver high school and chairman chair-man of the program committee, stated that the morning will "be devoted de-voted to solos and ensembles, both vocal and instrumental, choruses, glees and orchestras. The afternoon after-noon will be taken up by the various vari-ous bands, to be followed by a parade and mass band performance directed by Clair Johnson. This will be the first time at any southern south-ern Utah musical festival where mass band performance has been undertaken, it is said. The following well-known musicians musi-cians will act as judges for the various events: Clair Johnson, instrumental music instructor ot Weber college, Ogden, will judge bands and marching as well as brass solos and ensembles; LeRoy J. Robertson, director B. Y. U. Symphony orchestra, will judge orchestras and string solo and ensembles; J. Spencer Cornwall, director tabernacle choir, choruses and glees; 0. E. Christensen, director di-rector of the American Legion band of Salt Lake City, woodwind and ensembles; Roy Halverson, instrumental in-strumental music director of B. A. C, Cedar City, bands; William Manning, vocal director of B. A. C., solos and ensembles; Frank VanCott, piano instructor, Cedar City, judge of piano. It was stated at a recent meeting meet-ing held by the committee that this year's festival promises to be the largest and Most successful ever held in southern Utah. Preparations Pre-parations are going forward at a rapid rate in order to have everything every-thing in complete readiness for the event on May 6.
