Show Medical Discharges Cannot Be Refused A News reader has called our attention to an article in the February 5 issue of Liberty magazine. maga-zine. Appearing in the question and answer section, "This Man's War," conducted by "Old Sarge," the item serves to clear up an uncertainty un-certainty which has existed in the minds of some people. A Texas soldier wrote that he had served overseas for 20 months, after which he was hospitalized and shipped home. Now that he had had a rest, he stated that he was as good as new but had learned learn-ed that he was up for a medical discharge. He wanted to return to duty but had heard that if ho refused a medical discharge he would get into trouble. ' "Old Sarge" replied that there was no such thing as refusing a ' C. D. D., or medical discharge, and. under army regulations, all the army has to do is to hand him a CD. D. and he would be out. If I he balked at the idea', he might be escorted off the reservation by an armed guard. He was further advised ad-vised to accept the doctors' verdict ver-dict that they knew more about his health than the soldier did. |
