Show j Mrs. Powell Smyth arrived home 1 Friday of last week, after spend-1 ing a few days in Salt Lake City. Mis. A. A. Mclntyre, a former I resident of Milford but now living! j in Salt Lake City, was a local j visitor this week. Mrs. V. Waddoups and youngest; daughter, Angie, left Wednesday for Salt Lake City, where Angie will receive medical attention. Mrs. L. G. Clay and daughter Corinne, now living in Salt Lake City, visited with Mr. Clay and friends the first part of the week on their way to visit with Mrs. Clay's brother in Victorville, California. Cali-fornia. Mrs. Elva Sedgwick arrived home Wednesday, after spending the winter in northern Utah. She was accompanied here by her young grandson, Vame Beckwith, son of Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Beckwith Beck-with of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. James Ivers arrived ar-rived in Milford Tuesday for a visit at the home of Mrs. Ivers' parents, Mr. and Mrs. 1. Altman. The Ivers are enroute from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City where Mr. Ivers will be employed. V. Waddoups, manager of the local state liquor agency, has moved the store from the former bakery building, near The News office, to the former creamery building, next to the telephone exchange ex-change building. Mr. Waddoups purchased this building some time ago and has fitted it up nicely for its new use. The long-unused rooming house over the White market is being nicely fitted up by Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Murdock as sleeping quarters for locally-employed railroad men. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Riokerson will take care of the rooms, which number some 17, all newly furnished furnish-ed and redecorated. The need for additional quarters for railroad men has become extremely urgent. Mrs. Kenneth Hollis entertained members of her bridge club Friday of last week. Those present were Mrs. William Morris, Mrs. James Smithson, Mrs. " D. N. Hickman, Mrs. J. S. Rickerson, Mrs. Dick Jones, Mrs. Lloyd Lee and Mrs. J. P. Holm. Mrs. Rickerson was awarded the high points prize and Mrs. Smithson the high honors prize, while Mrs. Jones received both the consolation and traveling prizes. Members of the Bridgadier club were entertained Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Arthur Con-nell. Con-nell. Those present were Mrs. J. P. Holm, Mrs. Vern Shingleton, Mrs. William Morris, Mrs.' 0. R. Smith, Mrs. Ross Baxter, Mrs. Dan James and Mrs. W. A. Smith of Salt Lake City. The prizes at bridge were received by Mrs. Shingleton for high points and Mrs. Morris for high honors. Miss Vanda O'Leary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred O'Leary, was hostess to a group of friends Wednesday evening, April 3, the occasion being her birthday. The guests enjoying the evening were Jewel Waddingham, Priscilla Kes-ler, Kes-ler, Auline and Jean Farey, Angie Waddoups, Thelma Talancon, Lu Ann Feller, Nancy Hillman, Anna MkCulley, Arlene Baxter, Myrna Loy Carter, Lois Atkin, Geniel Tanner, Bonnie Baxter, MarJean Whittaker and Kathlyn O'Leary. A stork shower was given for Mrs. B. C. Briscoe Thursday night of last week at the home of Mrs. Pete Banks, with Mrs. Jess Perkins Per-kins as co-hostess. Pinochle and five-hundred were played during the evening and the prizes were awarded to Mrs. Elden Butler and Mrs. William Morris. Others enjoying en-joying the evening were Mrs. V. C. Albert, Mrs. Kenneth Hollis, Mrs. J. E. Rice, Mrs. Freda Out-zen, Out-zen, Mrs. Eddie Leech and Mrs. Dave Glenn. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Roberts of Minersville last week retired from the restaurant business in Milford when they sold the equipment of Phil's cafe, named for their son, to Mrs. Mary A. Dale, who comes from Colorado. Mrs. Dale is a daughter of M. M. Treat, local railroad man. Mrs. Roberts was forced to give up operation of the cafe due to the shortage of help but retires with the best wishes of a host of local friends she has made while serving the local public, pub-lic, putting in long hours of hard work in order to maintain the 1 high standard of service she had j set. Newly elected and appointed officers of-ficers of the Veterans of Fovi'gn Wars Auxiliary will entertain with a covered dish luncheon Tuesday evening. April 10. at the L. D. S. Relief Society hall. Douglas Farnow, Monday evening eve-ning went to Minersville where , a wedding reception was given in , the high school gymnasium by Mr and Mrs. Victor Myers, parents of the bride, the former Colleer Myers. The young couple were married March 26 at Milford fol-, fol-, lowing which they went to Las Vegas for a short honeymoon trip . The bridegroom, a radio man sec-, sec-, ond class in navy service, and son of Mrs. Clarence Grimshaw, is home on leave after a long period of service in both oceans.
