Show I - Scbool Motes FIRST GRADE We are reading new number stories. We are Koini? to do arithmetic or numbers from them. Marilyn. We played a game today about letters. We found the letters on the typewriter and wrote them. Joe Murdock. Miss Coleman put how many library books we have read on our can!".. Doreen has read 31 library books this year. Howard Bingham. Bing-ham. This week is "Be Kind to Animals" Ani-mals" week. The first and second grades had stories and songs about beimr kind to animals. Lysle English. We put daffodils on the windows. win-dows. Helen Mae brought a real daffodil to school. Geraldine Lyman. Ly-man. The first grade and the second grade had a program and some of us took our books up to the music room and read them. The program was about being kind to animals. Jay Rogers. How To Be Kind To Animals We feed them every day. We give them water to drink. We give them exercise. We play with them. We make a house for them. We fix a place for them to sleep. SECOND GRADE We hip about finished with our study of wool. We have the quilt nearly made. The sheep camp isn't made yet. We will be glad when it is done. We will study about fur next. Rae Bond. We will soon study about cotton. We will make a sandtable of a cotton cot-ton plantation. Melpha. We have studied about our food, Indians and our clothing. Wool is used . for clothing. I li1ed the grocery store we made when we studied about food. I liked .the Wigwam that we made when we studied about Indians. I have enjoyed en-joyed carding the wool. Robert Morris. We have studied how to be kind to animals. We are supposed to give them good things to eat. If you give cows good food they will give rich cream for you to get fat on. Rabbits like carrots and grain. Val Jean Williams. Mrs. Bond is reading Heidi to us. Heidi lived with her grandmother. One day they took her to another house. She took sick and they had to bring her home. Calleen Nolan We went down to the music room Friday afternoon. We told about how to be kind to animals. We sang songs about them. We read stories about them, too. Miss Coleman asked me to tell how I trained my clog to do tricks. I told her how. Warren Richmond. THIRD GRADE Holland is a country whei'e dogs have to work for their living. They draw carts filled with milk and vegetables. In some places we might see a dog pulling children to school. Larue Murdock. Some of the boys and girls in our room are making friezes. Our croup has finished ours. It is about the elephant. One frieze is about Holland, and another is about the Eskimos. Some of the boys and girls are making another f rie::e. These friezes are a lot better than we could have made them at the beginning of school. Bobby Young. The water buffalo is used mostly in the Phillim'ne Islands. It is also used in India and Africa. The water buffalo is used in warm countries. He can walk in mud without sinking. They pull plows too,- George Morris. FOURTH GRADE We are taking up new Milford for our social studies. Our stories now will be about the radio station, airport, LTnion Pacific and other j interesting thing?. Patricia Pitch-! forth. Milford Airway Radio About two and one-half miles northwest of the center of Milford stands a radio station. The station is K. C. A. T. The next station is 2f0 miles from Milford. It is in Las Vega', Nevada. j The Milford airway radio is ai government station, it was built j in August, 1932. The local people! helped build it. Owen Stoker put the hard wood floor in. We found j many intere-ting things about the J station. Mr. Morris made a broad-; broad-; cast while v.e wore there. Junior Kirk. ! We have a new soft ball. The; girls and boys take turns using it. j Ti e boys have it Mondays, Wed-i nesdays and Fridays. The girls ; had it today. I am glad we have a! .oft hall. Bill Bonner. ! Bobby at the Circus ! A little freckled faced brown haired boy got up bright and early. It was his seventh birthday and he was going to the circu-. ''Hurry up! Hurry up!" he said, "I want to get a monkey at the circus before they are all gone." His mother said, "Who said you could have any animal at the circus you wanted?" Bobby said, "Dad did." The voice of his father from the other room said, "Hurry up! Bobby and I are anxious to get going." After they had eaten they started off. It took a long time to get there. First they went half way in a taxi and the rest in a bus. After they got there Bobby had fun riding on the merry-go-round and feeding the elephants. He watched the monkeys and other things. Finally he was in his bed with his monkey beside him. Jay j'ohansen. FIFTH GRADE The fifth grade girls played the sixth grade girls a game of base-1 ball at the Milford district school.! The fifth grade had no luck at all; at playing the game. The game' started April 20 and ended April I 24. The score was 58 to 78 in j favor of the sixth grade girls We, congratulate them for their fine baseball playing. Carolyn Clay. We have just finished three friezes on our project. They are very interesting. The first is on the Vikings or Norsemen, the next is on Prince Henry, the navigator;! the next is on Magellan. We have I many more on the order of these. I hope they will be as good. Earl H. We made tulips. It was a very interesting class. We cut out the leaves, stems and flower pot. Then we pasted them on another piece of paper. They look very nice hanging around the room. The more decorations you have the merrier the room. Helen Smith. SIXTH GRADE Today our section finished our frieze. It was about the Arabs who are teaching Mohammedanism to their part of the world. This was in the Middle age when they had to use swords and spears. The Arabs succeeded in capturing most of the cities round them. On our frieze we made a scene of these people camping around an oasis. Lamarr Morris. - Do you know this is "Be Kind To Animals" week? Everybody should be kind to their pets and also , the wild creatures. In our class we made posters and put them in our hall for the other grades to see. Dorothy Johansen. We have been playing baseball with the fifth grade all this week. We played the last game today at recess. The final score was 78 to 58 in favor of our grade.
