H. Weston returned last .Wednesday from a visit to Salt Lake City and was accompanied home by her two grandsons, Gary and Alan Weston. V Mrs. Pratt Root returned home Friday morning from Big Springs, after spending a month with her )ius!.and who is located there. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Martin left the first of the week on their annual an-nual vacation. Their trip this year wiir include a visit to Olym-pia, Olym-pia, Washington, where their son, Corporal W. Robert Martin, is located lo-cated for the time being. Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. 0. R. Smith, parents of Owen Smith jr., that the latter, for the past two years a member of Uncle Sam's navy, has recently been made store keeper on his ship, which gives him $115 monthly month-ly pay and ranks him with a top sergeant in the army. Mrs. D. S. Williams entertained entertain-ed the Monday Night Bridge club October 26 with Mrs. Gene Kirk receiving the club prize, Mrs. Rudolph Ru-dolph Nielsen the high points prize and Mrs William Cochrane the high honors prize. Others present were Mrs. J. C. Smith, Mrs. J. M. .Hughes, Mrs. William Morris and Mrs. J. H. Weston. W. G. This is Camp Cla:b'?ne, which is planned even-, tually as a 15-mile square train-' ing camp for 40,000 men. The time was enjoyed playing play-ing brii! re with Mrs. Carl Yount winning the prize for high points and Mrs. Alfred Horton the prize for high hor.crs while Mrs. Thomas James received the consolation prize. Those enjoying the evening were Mrs. Hampton Burke and Mrs. William McMillen of Black Rock, Mrs. Jess Manning of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. William Cochrane, Mrs. Frank Gospill, Miss Gladys Gos-pill, Gos-pill, Mrs. D. A. Baxter, Mrs. Vena Wilson, Mrs. T. E. Gadberry, Mrs. I. Altman and Mrs. Russell Ferguson. Fergu-son. Bridge prizes were awarded to Mrs. McMillen, Mrs. Cochrane and Mrs. Gospill. Mrs. R. J. Magill was hostess to members of the Bridgadier club last Friday night. Those present were Mrs. William Morris, Mrs. Otto Steenbock, Mrs. J. P. Holm, Mrs. Vern Shingleton, Mrs. Carl Yount, Mrs. Loran Bishop and Mrs. Eddie Leech. Prizes were awarded Mrs. Steenbock for high points and Mrs. Holm for high honors and the traveling prize while Mrs. Shingleton received the consolation prize and Mrs. Yount the guest prize. Victory Rebekah Lodge No. 43 gave a very lovely and enjoyable bridal shower Monday night for Mrs. Lynden Shingleton (nee Miss Gladys Coleman), a recent bride and a much loved member of that organization. The members met in the dining room of the I. O. O. F. hall and were treated to a series of colored photographs manipulated by Mrs. Gertrude Yount. After a social hour a very delicious lunch was served to those present, the table being adorned with a bride's cake decorated deco-rated in the lodge colors. Mrs. Shingleton was the recipient of many beautiful and useful gifts, and received the good wishes and congratulations of all her fraternal frater-nal sisters. Those present were Mesdames Glenn, Cottrell," Pool, Stonthocker, Griffiths, Elmer, Sedgwick. Yount, Litvhfield, Johm-or., S:r.::h, Shingleton, Wilson, Wil-son, Martin, Outzen and Uren. They were to stop in Salt Lake City where numerous former Milford residents were anxious to entertain enter-tain Mrs. Peterson, and also in Pocate'.to, Idaho, where she has a niece living;. The community regrets re-grets the departure of these good people but all extend best wishes for them in Portland, where a widowed sister of Mrs. Peterson resides and where the latter expects ex-pects to. enter defense work. , |
