Show Woman Is In Hospital ! After Brutal Attackj i Victim of an unknown brutal J assailant during- the early hours ! of Wednesday morning-, Mrs. j Elva Sedgwick, widow residing! alone in the southwest part of town, is in the Milford hospital in such condition as to make it unwise un-wise for any but a few close friends to visit her. In addition to suffering cuts and bruises about j the head and face, Mrs. Sedgwick j is suffering severely from shock, j Mrs. Sedgwick was awakened at about 2 o'clock in the morning by the approach toward her bed of an unknown man, described as large and husky. Threatened with death if she turned on the light, she screamed for help and fought him off, with the result that he left before neighbors came to her assistance. Her assailant did not get off unascathed, however, for he left behind his cap, shirt and a handful of hair, which should prove to be very good clues in the hands of officers. From the injuries in-juries he inflicted about his victim's vic-tim's face, it is thought the man wore a ring, and it probable thatj his face also shows signs of the j brave resistance Mrs. Sedgwick 1 offered. |
