Show Telluride Determined To Stop 'Line-Shooting' Despite the lack of ammunition among many hunters, an epidemic of power line shooting by deer-hunters deer-hunters has brought about a serious seri-ous state of affairs for the Telluride Tel-luride Power company, according to Paul P. Ashworth, general manager, in a wire to The News. By noon Tuesday, lines of the company had been shot down seven times, Mr. Ashworth states, and the company iH determined to put an end to this destruction of property and the breukdown of service to thousands of customers whilch results. As a meuns to this end, the company is raising to $100 the standing reward the company offers for ' information j leading to the conviction of any-jone any-jone damaging the lines of the j company. Frequently the power lines involved in-volved are high in the mountains ;and their repair is difficult and I expensive, but, more important, are the seriouB interruptions of j service to homes, stores, hospitals, and industries engaged in the war i effort. Destruction of power lines in I these times is as damaging and I unpatriotic as any kind of sabotage, sabo-tage, Mr. Ashworth concludes, and unless hunters and others desist, the company may be forced to call 'on civil and military authorities : to help in guarding the property land service of the company. |
