Show Changes AreMade In Point Values Ration point values for beef were increased one point, effective this week, the chairman of the local war price and rationing board reports. The new point values, necessary because the amount of beef available avail-able for civilian use in July is expected ex-pected to be the smallest since rationing began, places the ration cost of most preferred- beef cuts at from nine to IS points a pound. Point values on a few cuts of veal, lamlb and mutton are raised from one to two points a pound. These include leg of veal, veal cutlets, veal loin and rib chops and similar lamb-mutton cuts. Canned fish items were raised sharply to 12 points per pound an increase of four points. A total of 17 changes were made in processed food items, 12 upward and five downward. The reductions reduc-tions were in canned or bottled vegetables, with advances in several items, and the others in canned and 'bottled fruits. Tihe changes come at a time when for the first time the actual flow of new production into trade channels is expected to exceed ex-ceed the outgo. However, it is j necessary during this new period, j when new packs are being canned, j to preserve part of the pack fori future months when fresh fruits I and vegetables from the markets and victory gardens are no longer I availaible in great quantity. j Blue stamps N, P and Q are j now valid and good through Aug-1 ust 7. Red stamps P and Q are ! now valid for meat and canned ! fish and fats, and R and S are j valid on successive Sundays all i good through July 31. 1 |
