Show Mr. and.. Mrs. J. P. Holm returned return-ed Sunday from a visit of a week in Provo. Mrs. Gene Kirk arrived home Sunday, after visiting a month in southern California with her children chil-dren and other relatives and friends. And still the unseasonable cold and rainy weather persists. It is fine for the ranges and some cultivated crops, but others are making very slow headway. Those from Milford who attended attend-ed the American Legion District convention at Cedar City, held May 2(i, were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cline, Mrs. James Smithson, Mrs. Powell Smyyth, Mrs. William Baker and Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen. All five citations that were awarded were received by Milford Post No. 16. Mrs. Pete Banks and children left Monday morning for a visit in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hughes and son, Staff Serjeant Nolan Hughes, left Sunday fur Lincoln, Nebraska, for a visit of several days with another son, Lieutenant Stanley Hughei, and his bride of a few-weeks. few-weeks. The regular June meeting of the Milford Wildlife Protective association will be held next Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, June 13, at the Milford town office. The meeting was originally scheduled for Monday Mon-day evenng but was postponed on account of the L. D. S. ward carnival. Mrs. D. G. Blackstock entertained entertain-ed Tuesday afternoon at a birthday birth-day party for her little daughter, Donna Jean, who was three years old. Games were played and refreshments re-freshments were served to Sandra Whisler, Petey Robinson, Joan Holder, Nancy Smith and Alice Klich. A party was given Saturday night of last week at the South Milford Community club house in honor of Mr. and Mrs. George Westwood who were married about two weeks ago. Mrs. Westwood is the former Ada Bradshaw. The newly married' couple will make their home in South Milford. J Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Osborn motored to Beaver Saturday of last week, where Mrs. Oshorn, as second sec-ond vice president, attended the stake meeting of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. The meeting was held at the home of Stake President Presi-dent Lottie Burke, and interesting programs for the next three months were prepared. The Salt Lake Tribune last week mentioned the resignation of two of three employes of the highly controversial legislative committee. commit-tee. One of them, John E. Clay, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Clay and a graduate of Milford high school. He has .been serving as auditor for the committee and now enters the employ of a Salt Lake auditing concern. Mts. Ronald Banks entertained members of the Big Four Bridge club Wednesday evening with Mrs. George Moore winning the high points prize and Mrs. J. P. Holm the high honors prize, while Mrs. John Moore received the consolation consola-tion prize. Others present were Mrs. Vera Shingleton, Mrs. G. C. Cuddy, Mrs. Lloyd Lee, Mrs. Fay Bradfield, Mrs. Harry Garfield ami Miss Betty Bowman. Mrs. Kenneth Hollis entertained entertain-ed members of the Wednesday Night Bridge club and guests this week. Those present were Mrs. Eugene Pitchforth, Mrs. James Smithson, Mrs. Dick Jones, Mrs. J. S. Rickerson, Mrs. Glen Barnes, Mrs. Arthur Connell and Mrs. Robert Rob-ert Colborn. The prize for high points was received by Mrs. Pitch-forth Pitch-forth and the high honors prize by Mrs. Rickerson, while Mrs. Smithson received the house prize and Mrs. Hollis the consolation prize. Mrs. B. J. Hillman was hostess to members of her bridge club Thursday night of last week. Those present were Mrs. Robert Burger, Mrs. Dell McDonald, Mrs. K. B. Coon, Mrs. Vic Carlson, Mrs. Lloyd Kohler, Mrs. 0. W. Evans and Mrs. Harold Cline. The first, second and third high score prizes were received by Mrs. Burger, Mrs. McDonald and Mrs. Cline, respectively. Mrs. W. H. Hendrickson and daughter, Mrs. Katherine Spacer, with the latters little son, returned re-turned home last week from Salt Lake City, where they had been since the death and burial of Mrs. Hendrickson's mother, who made her home in Milford for some time and was well known here. Mrs. J. R. Mlurdock was hostess to members of her bridge club Thursday evening of last week. Those present were Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. Sam Cline, Mrs. R. J. Magill, Mrs. J. H. Weston, Mrs. David S. Williams, Mrs. William Cochrane and Mrs. I. Altman. The high points prize was won by Mrs. Moore and the high honors prize by Mrs. Cline, while Mrs. Williams received the consolation prize. Mrs. Dell Holyoak was in Milford Mil-ford over the week-end, supervising supervis-ing the removal to Cedar City of their household goods. The Holy-oaks, Holy-oaks, who resided in Milford for some two years, had the good fortune for-tune to be located in Cedar City, their former home, for a considerable consider-able part of the 21-day furlough granted their son, Staff Sergeant James Holyoak, following his return re-turn from a 34-imission tour of combat duty with the Eighth air force. |
