Show Agent Suggests Deferred Action I On Branch Line i I A recommendation that the f interstate commerce commision defer its decision on possible abandonment of the Milford-Frisco Milford-Frisco branch of the Union Pacific Paci-fic railroad until November 1, pending development of extensive tungsten ore deposits near Frisco, is made by Examiner Jerome K. Lyle in a report to the commission released- last Saturday, says the Salt Lake Tribune. The report follows a public hearing conducted by the I C C in Salt Lake City several weeks ago. j "It does not appear desirable to permit an effective transportation medium for handling this vital traffic (tungsten ore) to be destroyed de-stroyed in view of uncertainties existing at the present time with respect to the future supply of trucks and tires," the report states. Attorneys for the railroad, for the state department of publicity and industrial development and for the public service commission of Utah have until June 22 to file exceptions. j "R.nilrnn tpcf.imnn v vpvipwaH in i the report indicates it will be uneconomic to continue operations of the 16.42-mile branch line unless un-less substantial tonnage develops either from ore dumps, some of which now are being shipped, or of the. scheelite ore from the Cupric mine, now leased by the U. S. Vanadium corporation. The report indicates that the U. S. Vanadium corporaltion intends in-tends to build a large tungsten refinery near Salt Lake City and that a gravity-concentrate mill would be constructed at Milford, and that from $125,000 to $150,000 and six months' time are needed to get the Cupric mine into production. pro-duction. ) H. Prickett, traffic counsel for the department, presented all the witnesses wit-nesses opposing abandonment.
