Show Scout Committee Initiates Drive For Large Sum Former Senator George Jeffer-1 son and Postmaster J. C. Root were appointed sometime ago to conduct a drive for funds with which to carry on the local Scout program and have sent out mimeographed mimeo-graphed letters to fathers of all local Scouts. The letter is pretty well self-explanatory and is as follows: fol-lows: Milford, Utah, April 27, 1937.1 Dear Friend: j At the early part of this year a group of citizens met to organize' the greatest Scout movement that! Milford has ever had. At this j time they have 105 boys divided j into three troops with three Scout: committees and three very efficient Scoutmasters and their assistants, j The Boy Scout movement is one ' that every citizen in the commun- j it y is interested in and should have the first consideration of the Scout' father. During the past three j months the boys have had illus- trated lectures, hunting and fishing j demonstrations, athletics, in fact, every phase of the work that could be carried on through the winter months. The next months will see the major activities of the Scout movement. move-ment. In order to carry on this extensive program the troops mustj have finance. The committees have estimated that it will take! $5.00 for each Scout for the year's! activity, certainly a small amount i when the real value is considered. I As a committee of finance, wei have made a survey of this community com-munity and have estimated that fully fifty per cent of the boys' parents are unable to pay the amount required. Therefore, we ask that those who can please cooperate co-operate by paying at least $5.00 per Scout at the Jefferson Mercantile Mercan-tile or the post office by May 1. (Continued on last page) Scout Funds Drive (Continued from first page) The balance of finance will -be solicited so-licited from people who have no j boys and are able to help. Please help the committee by making your contribution as early as possible pos-sible to save extra work. Very truly yours, GEORGE JEFFERSON, J. C. ROOT, Finance Committee |
