Show Fair and Races Are Successes In Spite Of Rains Though encountering some bad weather, which no doubt cut down on the attendance from outoftown places, this year's Beaver County fair, held in Beaver last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, was a big-success big-success from a racing and display standpoint while the attendance was sufficiently good to permit the committee to "break even," according to report. The number of races the first two days of the fair were reduced to seven from the usual eight, and the purses upped with the result that the purses were the highest ever given in southern Utah. This made for a nice setup for the race horse men, several outstanding stables from Utah and neighboring neighbor-ing states being represented and some good fast races resulting. Home arts and some other dis- plays were, of necessity, still 1.0-icated 1.0-icated down town, most of them I being housed in the high school, but the construction of new pens at the race track site near the mouth of Beaver canyon, made it possible to house the livestock in ! close proximity to the race track, on which a lot of extra work also was done in preparation for the fair and race meet.
