Show TOVN BOARD MEETS, APPOINTS OFFICIALS, MAPS TRUSTEE DUTIES A full quorum was on hand at the Town Board meeting Thursday night when President Gronning called the body to order at 8 o'clock. Visitors present were Bob Dotson, Stirlin McKnight and Charles Pryor of Minersville. Mr. Dotson made application for appointment as Milford town marshal. mar-shal. After some discussion ot salaries and duties the matter ot appointment of a marshal v.-."." C3-ferred C3-ferred until a later date. Appointments approved by the board follow: Vernon M. Burns, reappointed as town clerk. Fred O'Leary, water master, Sam Cline, town attorney. J. C. Smith, town treasurer. Mr. Smith replaces George Jefferson, who had been town treasurer for the past 15 years. Board members designated to supervise the various town departments depart-ments were: , Kent Smith, water and sewers. Dr. L. F. Kohler, parks, buildings build-ings and recreation. Carlisle Gronning, police and finance. fi-nance. Ben Hillman, airport, fire department depart-ment and garbage. Henry C. Garfield, streets and alleys. Condition of the alley, or back street, facing the Union Pacific railroad tracks was discussed. . It was pointed out that the unsightly, disgraceful appearance of this street is becoming a regular topic of discussion at town board meetings, meet-ings, and that laws are on the statute books requiring property holders to keep their grounds in presentable condition. Orders for arrests will be issued if the property prop-erty holders at fault do not remedy the condition. Trustee Garfield was instructed to make a survey of Milford streets and report to the town board at its next session on all streets in need of repair. Lights at the municipal skating pond on the northwest corner of the town were authorized and will be installed. Discussion of leasing of facil'ties at the airport, carried over from a special meeting last week, was continued, con-tinued, with no definite action taken. Ben Hillman has requested lease of both hangars to house his planes. Other members of the town board contend one hangar should be kept available for transient tran-sient pilots. Matter of leasing additional land to Mr. Hillman for construction of additional hangars was discussed. |
