Show 1690 No.2 Books Issued In Milford At Registration A total of 1690 No. 2 war ration books were issued in Milford during dur-ing the week of February 23, ac. cording to the report submitted to the OPA state office. 1683 cans of commercially processed foods were declared to be in the hands of consumers registered by the board. Of these, one 8-point stamp was removed from the No. 2 ibook for 1291 such cans, leaving 392 to be tailored from book No. 3 when it is issued. - The local board has received word that it may issue purchase certificates to supplement the 48 points per ration period in cases where unusual hardship would be suffered if the supplemental supple-mental rations are not issued. This will apply particularly to sheepherders, miners, and others who are not near enough to markets mar-kets to pur-chase fresh fruits and1 vegetables, and who are unable to raise their own to supplement the 48-point ration. Sugar stamp No. 12, which he-comes he-comes valid on March 16, will be good for five pounds of sugar. The reason for validating the coupon for five pounds is twofold: two-fold: It will save manpower not only in packaging the sugar, but in requiring less handling. It will also cut nearly one-half the actual number of packages to ,be handled and prevent waste now involved in the present small package size. Consumers are warned to use their five pounds carefully, however, since it must last them over 10 weeks, from March 16 through the end of May, and is, therefore, a slightly lower weekly ration than consumers have received in the past. Consumers, as well as retail sellers of gasoline, are urged to accept in good grace the proce. dure which must be followed by gasoline station attendants before selling gasoline. In order to be sure gasoline ration coupons are being used legally, the station attendant at-tendant must ask to see the motorist's ration book, check the windshield sticker and the license plates before he lays a hand on the pump. He must be sure the vehicle is the same as described on the ration book cover. He may deliver no gasoline if the expiration expira-tion date on the book has passed, unless there are enough coupons for the current period to cover back by the purchaser. He can not pons are properly endorsed on the back by thepurchaser. He can not accept loose coupons, but must de- tach them from the book himself. Failure to follow this procedure is a violation of the gasoline regulations, regula-tions, it is stated. |
