Mr. Carling also was well known in Milford. j Charles Fleming of Marshf ield, j Wisconsin arrived in Milford lastj week and now is training as a stu-dent stu-dent telegraph operator. Mr. j I Fleming is a brotherinlaw of Mr. 1 and Mrs. Joe E. Moore and expects ' soon to have his wife and daughter come to Milford. I Mrs. Jim Hickman and Mrs. La- j mar Grimshaw left Wednesday for "San Diego, California, where the i former will visit with her husband, I who has been in training at the : naval station there. Mrs. Grim- j shaw will visit with her sister there and also with her brother, Jimmie Jones, who is recovering from wounds received in action in the Pacific. .Members of the Thursday Night Bridge club were entertained Janu- : ary S at the home of Mrs. J. R. Murdock. Those present were Mrs. U. J. Magi II, Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. .1. H. Weston. Mrs. Gene Kirk, Mrs. David S. Williams, Mrs. E. L. Smith and Mrs. Harold Cline. Mrs. Murdock won the prize for high points and Mrs. Magill high honors, while Mrs. Kirk received the consolation prize. Mrs. Walter Carlton entertained Tuesday afternoon in honor of her little daughter, Mavanee, on her first birthday. Those present were Mrs. Vera Fitch and sons, Larry and Bobby; Mrs. Lois Holmquist and son Lorin, Mrs. Lois Moore and daughter Marlyn, Mrs. Ella Crosby and son Douglas, Mrs. Catherine Farey, Mrs. Gladys Bird and daughter Janice, Shanna Thompson and Norma Carlton. Mrs. J. P. Holm was hostes to members of the Bridgadier club Monday evening. Those present were Mrs. Vern Shingleton, Mrs. 0. R. Smith, Mrs. William Morris, Mrs. Ross Baxter, Mrs. Robert Colborn, Mrs. Arthur Connell, Mrs. F. A. Bingham, Miss Rosalie Smith, Mrs. Dan James, Mrs. Abe Fotheringham, Mrs. O. A. Steen-bock Steen-bock and Mrs. F. P. Van Campen. The prizes at bridge were received by Mrs. Morris for high points and Mrs. Steenbock for high honors, while Mrs. Fotheringham and Miss Smith received the guests' prizes. A number of women friends of Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen met with her Monday afternoon at the Nielsen Niel-sen home to help celebrate her birthday. The occasion also was the birth anniversary of Mrs. Lloyd Kohler. Those enjoying the afternoon, besides the honored women, wo-men, were Mrs. J. H. Weston, Mrs. J. M. Williams, Mrs. William Cochrane, Coch-rane, Mrs. D. A. Baxter, Mrs. F. !a. Bingham, Mrs. James Smith-son, Smith-son, Mrs. 0. R. Smith, Mrs. Powell i Smyth, Mrs. Ross Palmer, Mrs. J. M. Hughes, Mrs. Arthur Williams and Mrs. M. H. Pool. Bridge was played with Mrs. Weston winning the high points prize and Mrs. Pool the high honors prize, while Mrs. Kohler received the consolation consola-tion prize. |
